This book was developed from the belief one day can affect your entire life, either negatively or positively. I wrote a two-sided story about Lucy and Will, who are living parallel lives. 20 | 20 traces the way their lives intertwine in 20 days and how simple interactions change their lives.
At first, figuring out a solution for binding the book was a challenge; however, challenge accepted and in the final format, I love the way the two books interact with one another. The reader can read the two stories individually or at the same time.
Conditional Love is a fictional company that makes a parody of American parents’ need to mold their children into their version of the perfect child. When parents sign up for Conditional Love they select a pre-packaged life plan for their child and allow the company to ipso facto raise their child. Some of Conditional Love’s most popular plans include Prima Ballerina, All-Star, and NASA Scientist.
Inspired by 1950’s fashion photographers, such as Richard Avedon and John French, I created this gallery guide for a collection of vintage hats. These hats were collected by my parents and used by my sisters and me to play dress-up when we were younger.
I started my design process by photographing the hats and capturing the best features of each hat. I wanted the photographs to feel whimsical and the models to look joyful. In order to keep the focus of the book on the collection of hats, I kept the layout of the book fairly simple for an overall fresh, streamlined look.
EXPLORE Graphic Design is an annual career event held by the College of Design at Iowa State University. This event gives students the opportunity to learn more about the professional world after graduation. The majority of students knows every little about the "real" world and can find it challenging to navigate. Our project played with this fact by using topographic maps as a key visual and basing the logo design on coordinates.

During my college years I fell in love with coffee. I was curious if my love for coffee was normal when compared to the rest of the world. Before writing the content for the book, I researched the origins of coffee, how coffee came to America, and the development of the American “coffee culture.” I used a recycled coffee bean bag for the cover since I believe coffee is a sensory experience and I did not want to lose that when I translated the topic into book form. I hand-stitched the coffee bean bag to the book’s end sheets.
I designed this calendar around The Features’ song “The Idea of Growing Old.” It’s a song about a boy who has found the girl with whom he wants to “grow old.” The notion of aging and layering new experiences throughout a lifetime is central to the song, and also to the design of my calendar. A diagonal grid system is the base for all the months; however, each month gains more lyrics and deepens in color as time passes, symbolizing the aging process.
Antibiotic resistance, occurring when current medicines fail to treat harmful microbes, has become a major health issue due to misuse in the industrial farming industry. Studies show 70% of the antibiotics used in the United States are used on healthy livestock.
Raw Cuts is a grocery store campaign aimed at raising awareness of antibiotic resistance. Based on my research I discovered the common shopper knows little about the predominance of antibiotic resistance. Raw Cuts prides itself on returning to the days of neighborhood butchers and allowing customers to gain knowledge about how their meat is raised, expanding on the farm to fork concept.
A mix of darkroom and travel photography.
DISH restaurant was created around the concept of serving great food and creating an atmosphere where customers can sit for hours enjoying their food and talking with friends. The dual meaning of the word dish, both as a plate of food and getting caught up on the latest gossip, captured this idea and was the key inspiration for the logo. With the identity, we focused on a creating a comfortable atmosphere through warm colors, dark wood textures, and interlacing patterns using our logo.
